Art Deco Dining Table in Thuja with Floral Carving, circa 1930
A striking Art Deco dining table from around 1930 – architecturally composed, expertly crafted, and rich in decorative detail.
This mostly rectangular table (130 × 110 × 75 cm | 51.2 × 43.3 × 29.5 in) features a vivid Thuja burl veneer, beautifully brought to life by a hand-applied shellac polish. The surface radiates warmth and depth, accentuating the expressive wood grain.
A distinctive carved frieze runs around the apron and lower frame, featuring delicate floral motifs. These hand-carved details add a decorative rhythm to the piece without compromising its streamlined form.
The base is composed of sculptural supports anchored by a closed plinth with an integrated lower shelf – a nod to the architectural ethos of late Art Deco furniture.
Two extension leaves (each 58.5 cm | 23 in) allow the table to expand to an impressive total length of 247 cm (97.2 in). These leaves, crafted from color-matched hardwood, integrate seamlessly into the overall design.
Please note:
The set of six matching dining chairs seen in the photos is not included in this listing but is available separately.
An elegant and highly refined piece – timeless in presence and built for both beauty and utility.
